Day 3 - Pueblano Ruins
The following morning, we said farewell to our Philmont Ranger, Bren. His next assignment was in the Rayado program, a 21 day program with scouts WITHOUT adults. He was really looking forward to it. We presented him with "Thank-You" presents which included a BSA Pen/Pencil set, a Suffolk County Council shoulder patch and replica pin that could be attched to a wooden hiking stick. He was quite appreciative.
Our crew proceeded back down the same 4 wheel drive road for about an hour until we came to the trail that would lead us south to Pueblano Ruins. That trail was very steep, climbing almost 1000 feet to the top of the Wilson Mesa, a beautiful area with a full spring lake and terrific view of Baldy.
After the Wilson Mesa, we continued on the trail to Pueblano Ruins, which was about 1 mile west of Pueblano, where that day's programming, Pole Spar Climbing would be offered.
Our campsite for the night and our next Program camp.
Although we waited nearly an hour to try, several of our Scouts put on the equipment, climbed the pole and played "donkey" for their crew mates.
Kyle attaches the footholds; Jeff and Matt take their turns on the poles.
Mr. Bowie recharges and Matt takes on the pole.
Bryan on the pole and Mike readys himself for the climb.
Mike is on his way as Mr. Bowie plays "donkey".

On to Day 4 ...
