Our Day Trip to the U.S.S. Intrepid
On December 11th, 37 Scouts and Family members took the LIRR into NYC and hiked over to the west side of Manhattan to visit the famous Air & Space Museum. Although the sky was threatening, the rain held off long enough for us to explore the ship and the recently retired Concorde aircraft on a nearby barge. After our visit, several members left on their own to explore other destinations in New York City including the Christmas Tree in Rockefeller Center.
Crossing over 12th Avenue and approching the Intrepid.
Our guys try to take control.
Glen, Mr. Fusco, and Stephen attack the climbing wall in the Hanger Deck.
Mr. Bailey met outgoing Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge on the Hanger Deck and thanked him for his service to our Country. Mr. Ridge had just emerged from the Flight Simulator ride along with one of our Scouts and his Mom!
Robert stands in the center aisle of the retired British Concorde, wher the seats are protected with a plastic shield.
Some of our guys then braved the crowded streets and walked over to Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick's Cathedral.
