2005 started off a little wet for us. Our first campout, a cabin campout, was held at camp owned by the Theodore Roosevelt (Nassau County) Council over the January 7-9 weekend. Although the cabins had stoves, the leaders and scouts were challenged in finding dry wood to keep the heat up inside. Of course if they were still cold, the boys could always go over to the heated latrines! On Saturday, the boys practiced their compass and orienteering skills around the beautiful lake in the middle of the camp. Despite the rain, the scouts were able to find the marker poles on the orienteering course. Sunday morning was nice and sunny to pack up the gear and head home.
