Rendezvous & Departure
After the crews returned from their treks, the Northern Tier staff carried on the tradition of "Rendezvous", the time when crews of long ago would get together and tell their tall tales to all. Since our crews were the only ones to come off the lakes that day, we were the only ones in attendance! During the course of our 10 day treks, the Interpreters had kept on us about doing a skit at the Rendezvous. Two of our three crews did a skit. This all took place at the small amphitheater just inside the stockade.
The crews got to say "Thank-You" to their Interpreters by presenting them some "friendship gifts" - A red Troop 433 T-Shirt, a set of BSA drink coasters, and a Suffolk County Council Shoulder Strip. BSA staffs are not allowed to accept gratuities.
After the Rendezvous, it was back to our assigned crew cabins, which were even hotter than our first-night cabins!
After breakfast, it was time to take the three hour ride back down to the Duluth International Airport. We turned in our vans to Budget and waited to take our first flight to Minneapolis and then our connecting flight back to LaGuardia. Even though we were nearly an hour late getting back to New York, the Scout families gave us a rousing welcome back!
