Battleship Cove
On Saturday, March 20th, 20 Scouts and 16 Leaders & Parents ventured to Fall River, Massachusetts, home of Battleship Cove, an extremely popular floating museum. We boarded the Orient Point Ferry to New London and took a Laidlaw school bus up to the museum.
The Battleship U.S.S. Massachusetts was commissioned in early 1942 and served throughout World War II without losing a single life.
Some of the enormous features of the Battleship included one of the ship's 4 propellers, massive 16 inch guns and 5 inch gun turrets.
The museum also included two completely restored PT Boats, each made of wood.
.
Then, we headed over to the Marine Museum and saw a slide show about the Titanic, which struck an iceberg and sank in 1912.
Then we toured the rest of the musuem before returning to the Battleship for the afternoon Fire Drill.
